SYNOPSIS
Yugoslavia, winter 1993. Hyperinflation destroys daily life, but Nada is determined to protect her five-year-old son childhood. Jovan’s New Year’s wish—a yellow toy tractor—becomes her mission. After searching through empty stores, she crosses the Danube into neighbouring Romania. Finally, she finds a toy tractor, but then realises all her money has been stolen. Shaken and desperate, she grabs the toy and runs. Overcome with guilt and shame for stealing, Nada throws it into the river and heads home. On the other side, Jovan waits. Snow finally begins to fall. A miracle rises from the water.
